Analytics Dashboard
Pro Feature
The Analytics Dashboard provides powerful visual insights into how your virtual files are being accessed. While the free version offers basic stats, the Pro version unlocks a comprehensive suite of interactive charts and real-time data to help you understand your file traffic.
Accessing the Dashboard
You can access the analytics dashboard directly from the WordPress admin menu:
- Navigate to Virtual Files in your WordPress dashboard.
- Click on the Analytics submenu item.
TIP
Free users can preview the dashboard layout but will see a blurred overlay until they upgrade to Pro.
Dashboard Overview
The dashboard is designed to give you both a quick summary and deep detailed analysis of your file performance.
Summary Statistics
At the top of the dashboard, you'll see key performance indicators (KPIs) for the selected time period:
- Total Views: The total number of times your virtual files were accessed.
- Unique Files: The number of distinct files that received traffic.
- Top File: The single most accessed file during the period.
- Busiest Day: The date with the highest traffic volume.
1. Views Timeline
The Views Timeline is an interactive line chart that visualizes your traffic trends over time.
- Visual Trends: Easily spot traffic spikes or drops.
- Interactive Tooltips: Hover over any point to see the exact view count for that day.
- Date Range: Data is automatically adjusted based on your selected date filter (default is 30 days).
2. Top Performing Files
Identify your most popular content with the Top Files bar chart.
- Displays the top 5 most accessed files.
- Shows the exact view count for each file.
- Helps you understand which files are critical to your site's operation (e.g.,
robots.txtor specificads.txtfiles).
3. File Type Distribution
The File Types donut chart breaks down your traffic by content type.
- See the percentage of traffic going to different file extensions (e.g.,
.txt,.xml,.json). - Useful for diagnosing unexpected traffic (e.g., if a log file is getting too many hits).
Data Display
The dashboard displays analytics data for the last 30 days automatically.
- Real-Time Updates: Data refreshes automatically when you visit the dashboard
Troubleshooting
If you don't see data appearing in your dashboard:
- Check Status: Ensure your virtual files are set to Active. Inactive files return 404s and are not tracked.
- Cache Delay: If you use aggressive caching, there might be a slight delay in stats updating.
- Bot Traffic: The analytics engine attempts to filter out known malicious bots, so numbers might differ slightly from raw server logs.
